I Won This Dog At The Dirtwood Reunion Carnival

Funny, it seems that the amount of work I have now that I’m a full-timer has increased considerably. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

Soundscapes restocked their Velvet Crush selection. Picked up ‘A Single Odessey’ (sic) last night. I just need to find a copy of ‘Free Expression’ for less than $25 and I’ll be happy.

What was supposed to be a recording session last night turned into just a lot of sitting around shooting shit and listening to the Oval-Teen double disc masters. Must say, it sounds a lot better than the album that Brad gave me when we first met. A lot of it was in the production values, but the songs are better on this one as well. I want to start playing again! The recording is fun, but not when its dragged out so long… I wanna plug in and make some noise. Noise noise noise!

Learned that Soundscapes has Boxing Day sales. This makes me happy.

Redecorate Your House With Beef

Not a word of lie, this was the subject line of a piece of spam in my mailbox today. If more spammers took the time to write interesting subject lines like this one, they’d probably have more success.

I didn’t open it – I doubted the contents could measure up to what I imagined it was about…

Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards

Won’t be long now. I think as of tomorrow I will officially ditch my Hotmail account and swap to Yahoo. This would be a perfect opportunity to get the chromewaves account into action, but I do like the My Yahoo functions.

My back has been acting up again this week, after more than a year of mostly pain-free happiness. Pisses me right off. Why now? What’s the cause, where’s the stress? Stupid back muscles.

Adventures In Stereo

Out of boredom and some pragmatism, I have just spent the past hour rearranging my speakers. I’m not going to get optimum sound from my setup considering the way my room is arranged, but the way it was I could only achieve optimum listening position if I stood in the centre of my room. Not practical.

I’ve stretched out the base of the invisible equilateral triangle between the speakers by almost 200% (in other words, I moved them to the outside edges of the bookshelves instead of the inside – scientific yah!). The ideal listening position in my room is now sitting on my bed, back against the wall – where I usually sit when reading. Better than standing in the middle of the room. My computer, where I spend most of my time, still isn’t in a great listening position but the left speaker is directly behind my head now so at least I’m getting more detail and volume from one of the channels. Better than nothing.
