Monkey Knife Fight
I don’t like talking to clients. I don’t like having to play corporate politics or carefully choose my words on the possibility they *might* be interpreted in some way that could be deemed counterproductive or whatever. I don’t have Tourettes or anything, but I hate having to run what I want to say through that extra filter…
Yeah, they want me to talk to clients. Important higher-up supposedly techie clients, but clients nonetheless. Why can’t they just leave me to happily crunch away at code all day?
In other work-related news, my brother was not laid off today.
I’m thinking that even if I don’t overhaul my site design anytime soon, I want to change the architecture. No pages except the homepage are being spidered by Google on account of how I’ve built the links. Gonna see what I can do about that.

And Then The Crowd Showed Up
I realized to my horror when I stepped in the door tonight that I forgot to tape The West Wing. And of course it didn’t occur to my goonie brother, for whom I tape every episode he misses, to tape it. Bum.
Where was I? Went to to get my CDs from Joey! He had my two Elf Power discs, ‘A Dream In Sound’ and ‘When The Red King Comes’, as well as the Tobin Sprout album ‘Lets Welcome The Circus People’ which Kyle had graciously picked up for me from the Beat Goes On in Burlington.
I hung out with Joey, Alex and Jer for a few hours after their soundcheck (they play in Flirt). Went to get some dinner – it was like one of those contests where you win an evening out with a bunch of rock stars, except these guys aren’t anymore rock stars than I am and I have dinner with me every night. So it wasn’t that exciting. But since I don’t see them all that often, it was fine.
I’ve just found out that Dot Allison is opening for Saint Etienne Saturday night at the Opera House. I had no interest in seeing Saint Etinenne, but combined with Dot Allison, I could now be persuaded. Will have to see if Kevin was still going to go.
The Toronto Humane Society is doing their annual adoption window display at the Bay at Queen and Yonge St the first week of December. That’ll be very dangerous for me… the odds of spontaneously heading home with a bag full of puppies is pretty high. But that’d be a bad idea. Probably. Maybe. Hrmm.

Stylistically Jaded
Vic has added comments back to his blog. So much staying true to the fundamental principles of blogging or whatever poppycock excuse you used when you took em off! Look at that, I used ‘poppycock’ in a sentence.
Picked up the new issue of New X-Men. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on… I’m going to have to go back and re-read a few months worth to try to work it out. Of course, since it’s Grant Morrison doing the writing, so there might well not be any sort of comprehensible storyline to follow anyway. But the pictures are nice, anyway. New artist this issue – Keron Grant. I’ve never seen his stuff before but I like it quite a lot. As long as they keep Igor Kordey or whatever the heck his name is away from the title, I’ll be happy.
Interesting – According to Coming Attractions, Lord Of The Rings – The Two Towers is getting an advance Canada release in Toronto on Dec 6, almost two weeks before North American wide release. Does this mean there’s going to be one big hoopla screening on the 6th and the rest of us plebians will still have to wait till the 18th, or will we blessed Torontonians be able to see the film a dozen times over before our less-fortunate countrymen do?

I’ll Be Your Lampshade
Bit of a rubber duck theme going on here at work today. Laura bought a cool little devil duck that I took a picture of and will post when I get home. Mark had this fascinating little bit of the internet at his fingertips as well : Celebriducks.
I have asked Phenominet to enable Moveable Type on my web space. Not ready to abandon Blogger yet, but I do want to play with MT as a possible upgrade in the future.

Oh You’ve Got Blue Eyes, Oh You’ve Got Green Eyes, Oh You’ve Got Grey Eyes
It feels like school picture day at work. Everyone dressed up (not to the nines, though – more like to the six, six-and-a-halfs).
So it appears that a Clash reunion may be in the offing. Mick Jones joined Joe Strummer onstage at a gig last week and they ran through some Clash tunes. There’s talk they’ll be reuniting for a one-off show at their induction in the Rock’N’Roll Hall Of Fame next year. I’ll be right pleased if it stops there, though. With very few exceptions, bands that reunite after being split for so long always disappoint. And even if they pick up where they left off almost 20 years ago, that’d still be ‘Combat Rock’. And no one needs that.
Going to try and meet up with Joey tonight before his show at the B-Side. They’re going on a little late for my liking, but I need to pick up some CDs from him.
