Stylistically Jaded

Vic has added comments back to his blog. So much staying true to the fundamental principles of blogging or whatever poppycock excuse you used when you took em off! Look at that, I used ‘poppycock’ in a sentence.

Picked up the new issue of New X-Men. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on… I’m going to have to go back and re-read a few months worth to try to work it out. Of course, since it’s Grant Morrison doing the writing, so there might well not be any sort of comprehensible storyline to follow anyway. But the pictures are nice, anyway. New artist this issue – Keron Grant. I’ve never seen his stuff before but I like it quite a lot. As long as they keep Igor Kordey or whatever the heck his name is away from the title, I’ll be happy.

Interesting – According to Coming Attractions, Lord Of The Rings – The Two Towers is getting an advance Canada release in Toronto on Dec 6, almost two weeks before North American wide release. Does this mean there’s going to be one big hoopla screening on the 6th and the rest of us plebians will still have to wait till the 18th, or will we blessed Torontonians be able to see the film a dozen times over before our less-fortunate countrymen do?

I’ll Be Your Lampshade

Bit of a rubber duck theme going on here at work today. Laura bought a cool little devil duck that I took a picture of and will post when I get home. Mark had this fascinating little bit of the internet at his fingertips as well : Celebriducks.

I have asked Phenominet to enable Moveable Type on my web space. Not ready to abandon Blogger yet, but I do want to play with MT as a possible upgrade in the future.

Oh You’ve Got Blue Eyes, Oh You’ve Got Green Eyes, Oh You’ve Got Grey Eyes

It feels like school picture day at work. Everyone dressed up (not to the nines, though – more like to the six, six-and-a-halfs).

So it appears that a Clash reunion may be in the offing. Mick Jones joined Joe Strummer onstage at a gig last week and they ran through some Clash tunes. There’s talk they’ll be reuniting for a one-off show at their induction in the Rock’N’Roll Hall Of Fame next year. I’ll be right pleased if it stops there, though. With very few exceptions, bands that reunite after being split for so long always disappoint. And even if they pick up where they left off almost 20 years ago, that’d still be ‘Combat Rock’. And no one needs that.

Going to try and meet up with Joey tonight before his show at the B-Side. They’re going on a little late for my liking, but I need to pick up some CDs from him.

You Could Make A Killing

Aimee Mann guest-starred on tonight’s Buffy as herself. She got to do a little more than just provide aural wallpaper as most musical guests on the show do. Besides getting to react to a fight going on in the Bronze, she got a nifty one-liner – “I hate playing these vampire towns”. Neat. The editing of her scenes were poorly done though. Someone seemed to think that lots of fast cuts between Spike beating the tar out of another vampire and showing the band playing would make for good viewing. Much as I love the music, her stuff isn’t really action movie soundtrack material. Oh there’s a deadly roundhouse kick! Now there’s a closeup of Buddy Judge taking a solo! Karate chop! Sheesh.

The little guy in the corner is available here. I don’t know what the deal with it is, but I like it.

Little Argument With Myself

I am blog surfing right now, checking out what other people do with their soapboxes. Interesting stuff. I’m finding that other folks are quite willing to put more personal stuff in their journals, beyond the ‘I bought this CD, I read this news article, I ate this for dinner, neener neener neener’ I seem to favour.

Why don’t I post more personal stuff? Why don’t I bare my soul to the faceless masses of the internet? Is it because I have trouble opening up? Is it because I know who reads this and I don’t want to share? Is it because I don’t know if blogs are admissable as evidence in a court of law? Or is it because my life is such a desolate, barren void that there’s simply nothing to tell?

The new Primal Scream gets a domestic release next Tuesday…
