TIFFWhat: Jem Cohen: We Have An Anchor
What?: A film from New York’s Jem Cohen focusing on the physical and cultural landscapes of Nova Scotia. It will be screened with live musical accompaniment from members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Fugazi, Dirty Three, The Quavers, Thee Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, and Mary Margaret O’Hara.
When: December 4 and 5, 2012
Where: The TIFF Lightbox in Toronto
How: Tickets for the show are $30 in advance but courtesy of Images Festival, I’ve got two pairs of passes to give away for the performance – one for each night. To enter, email me at contests AT chromewaves.net with “I want An Anchor for December 4” or “I want An Anchor for December 5” in the subject line and your full name in the body, and have that in to me by midnight, November 28.
What else: You can see a sort-of trailer for the filme below, but Exclaim also has a five-minute clip of a previous screening of the film with the live band playing along, if you need a real sense of what this will be like.
