A Crick Uphill

Tracked bass on my song tonight. Mildly painful, I think we did something like a dozen punch-ins over the course of a 3:45 song, and that doesn’t include the takes we scratched. No one’s fault, I was drawing a blank in terms of basslines and Five Seventeen only made one up a few minutes before recording. It sounds… well, it’ll work as a guide. I will probably re-record it and make it a little less busy, but I’ve got something to start with now. Going to replace the ebow track I laid down last night with some slide.

Quote of the night, from Five Seventeen. “Lamb was my favorite meat because you could eat it after you fuck it”. Uggggh. I won’t even go near some of Brad’s jokes from the last few weeks. Lake Holiday – nothing is too taboo for us.

In more optimistic and less offensive news, our drummer woes *may* be solved, at least for now. A drummer with another band, The Electric Shoes, that Brad and Seventeen know, has expressed an interest in also playing with us. There’d have to be some scheduling to work out, but my time is totally flexible (obviously). Hopefully this’ll work out.

I’m 2/3 of the way through The New York Trilogy. Paul Auster is a masterful storyteller. I am going to have to dig up more of his stuff…
