For the benefit of Kevin, who has a built-in bias against anything that came from the 80s – a brief sample of good bands that came out of that otherwise bleakest of decades :

I Am Superman And I Can Do Anything

Except act. Keanu Reeves has been cast as the Big Blue Banana in the new Superman film. Now I’m not one of those universal Keanu bashers, he has his place. He’s fine in limited (speaking) roles like in the Matrix cause he looks like an action figure. Swivel-arm battle grip and all. But Superman? Ehrrrm.

Went drinking last night with Bryan and Andrea, probably their last time in Toronto till Christmas. Wonder of wonders, Natacha even made an appearance – no excuse not to since she lives like 2 blocks away from the pub we were at. This time it was not even four months since I saw her last, a marked improvement from the 6-month gaps that had become typical in the last few years.

Got my copy of the Replacements’ Let It Be from mymusic today – they graciously shipped me the Rykodisc reissue for the lower TwinTone edition price that I’d originally ordered it at. Those guys are great. Fine service AND bubble gum.

Contemplating the Beck/Flaming Lips show at Massey Hall. I would really like to see the Lips, and Massey Hall is terrific venue… will have to see how much tickets are before making a decision I guess.

Star Sign

Saw Willem Dafoe at Bistro 990 last night. Was walking up Bay, he was sitting on the patio.

My Film Festival moment, 2002.

Sugar Mountain

Another week, another hit at the candy store. I have beside me a big ‘ol bag of Chews, atomic fireballs and double bubbles. So gross, but so good.

Atomic fireballs are neither as large nor atomic as I remember. Disappointment, yes.

Screed

…is my new favorite word of the day. It is a good word.
